Finally getting around to posting this. I bought a Benelli Nova 12ga from a guy at work last week. He said it only had three rounds through it but looking at it I could tell it had more than that.

He only wanted $200 for it so I bought it. I got it home and cleaned it up (it was filthy) and could tell it was well used but not abused. I also had to build a plug for it (1/2 CPVC works perfectly).

I took it out Saturday and we limited on ducks. Never missed a beat. I've never been a pump shotgun guy but I'm pretty happy with this one.

Just thought I'd brag a little...

That model is selling new for about $525. This one's got a few rounds through it and some wear but it's in good shape so I figured I couldn't lose for that price...

RJ, my Nova has been my shotgun for everything since I bought it in Mid '90s.
The blueing has turned silver on the action from cycling, but the gun looks new everywhere else.
The barrel is shiny smooth. Most everyone likes to shoot this gun when I let them try it on the Trap range.

Thanks. Hard to tell from the picture on that link but from the looks (and feel) of it, I may have been lucky and got a gun with that pad already on it. I had no issue with the recoil when I shot it.

Great gun for the deal. I can't find anything to complain about on a nova. Does your shotgun have the button on the bottom of the pump? If it does, you can isolate your magazine tube by depressing it when you pump, ejecting your spent shell, leaving you with the option to put something different in. Say you're out dove hunting, and you see a hog. I keep buckshot on my side saddle, so I can make one pump, throw in a round of buck, and shoot something a bit heavier. You might find a use for it, as I liked to alternate loads when I shoot competition with it, so I can have my high brass and low brass lined up according to direction and distance of the upcoming clays... Just something I do, but I hope you like it. The most negative thing I can think of, is that some tend to rattle a little, but I've never experience any audible rattle from mine.

Eh, no problem. Next time you go to academy and cruise by the gun counter, ask them what the button's for. I have yet to this day had an associate answer me correctly. I've gotten some interesting replies, "It's to remove the pump from the gun," or "It's to pump the gun."

That might be some good entertainment!!! I had to download the manual and that's how I figured it out. Don't know that I would have ever tried the steps it takes to make it function by accident to figure it out.

I have an itch to go to academy right now and ask the youngest newest looking kid I can, "show me your best triple action handgun, and I'll buy it right now..." just to watch them going over each gun and trying to find it...

Forbid you ask a question like, "what's the best thing you have for home defense?" Ever see somebody trying to sell a pistol grip mossberg to a granny before? I have, I just had to come in and offer my advice before she went and broke her wrist at the range... Though I bet there are some out there that can rock it, but some people don't understand the laws of physics too well.

Yes, it can save a hug amount of time if you need a different load for something. I would like to see something like this or more tactical platforms. 00Buck is not always the best for breaching a heavy duty dead bolt, but one cycle, throw in a slug, and away you go. You shouldn't have to empty your magazine to take out a door, an option like this would give you something very valuable in a tactical situation IMO, and OPTION. You get too few of those when a problem arises.
