I hope one of you 1911 guys can help me out. I am looking to buy a couple magazines for a 38 Super. One has a flat follower and the other has a round follower. Which is better and what is the difference?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Tripp Research makes the best 1911 magazines, for my money. It looks like their 38S follower is flat.

I don't know that there is a clear "better."

I've got a bunch of very fine magazines from several of the top manufacturers - Wilson Combat, Chip McCormick, Brownell's, etc. Some have flat followers, some have rounded.

All work just fine - every time.

When none fail, what criteria do you use to determine "better?"

Personally, I shoot flat followers but use extra-power mag-springs with no issues
Almost all of my 1911 mags have the flat followers. The only ones I've found needing extra power springs are Kimber Pro mags (which I no longer have) and any that I use for 460 Rowland.
