I carry and compete with a Blackhawk Serpa Level II. It looks like I'm doing everything right, now I just need to work on my speed.

Okay, maybe not everything, but pretty close. I do things very similar to how he does it in the video except that it looks like I'm moving in slow motion compared to him.

A bit off-topic, but I dunno WHAT kinds of things people are putting their Serpas through! A few years back, I saw the AAR pictures of a BP agent that fell off his ATV onto his pistol. He was carrying in a Serpa. The holster had a couple scratches, but his HK's frame broke off at the top of the grip and completely separated. The magazine well, mag included, were laying on the ground, with the slide, barrel, and frame rails still securely holstered.

The only "failure" I'm aware of with the Serpa that should be of any concern to most people is the tendency to "hook" your trigger finger when you depress the trigger-guard release, which allows your booger hook to slide into the bang switch compartment. Keeping your finger indexed solves this problem (along with plenty of practice doing so, of course). Yes, people HAVE shot the ground, their legs, their feet, etc., while drawing, but in every single case, they hooked their finger.

In my experience (and I too carry in a Serpa at my job), there's nothing wrong with the holster. However, it's like a Glock, in that it's not very forgiving of poor handling or practice. And yes, like a Glock, it too CAN be broken, but it takes some doing!

It's not what I'd choose for a CCW holster, not unless you're already well-practiced with it, mainly due to the finger-hooking issue; but I have fairly high regard for it as a duty holster. So far, I've failed to break mine, as have a few thousand BP agents. And they sure try.

I've used mine for around 8-9 years now and haven't had any problems. No broken pieces or ADs. I keep it clean, not spotless, but I'm running around in the sand or jungle with it either. I can't even venture a guess as to what happen to the one in Jumping Frog's picture unless that was an intentional stress test.
