I've done a search through this forum and see that a few of you guys have Baby Eagles in various calibers. What do you guys recommend for holsters?

I've picked up my second Baby Eagle. The leather OWB holster I picked up for the Compact 9mm is nice, but I'd like something IWB, and my go to holster of King Tuk doesn't seem to be made for the Baby Eagle.

The second I've picked up is a full sized .45. The leather OWB fits it also.

I haven't fired the .45 yet, but I was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy of the 9mm. I hope to find a Black Hawk Style holster for the .45.

Thanks. I've seen their site. I was hoping for some recommendations from forum users who have actual experience with a holster. I know a holster purchase is about as personal as a Purse purchase is to a woman, so we all have different things we're looking for or like in a holster. But I was hoping to avoid the pick one blindly routine, and hopefully save myself a few dollars and room in the holster's I don't use pile.

yep, holsters are like other articles of clothing. What fits in my waistband just might not fit yours. We all have different comfort zones.

It is possible to have a custom made holster at a fairly reasonable price, depending on how much "bling and gingerbread" you want added to it. I HIGHLY recommend Hopp Custom Leather (http://www.hoppcustomleather.com), having purchased two holsters from Eric Hopp now. His pricing is VERY reasonable, considering that each holster is made to your specification. He makes both OWB and IWB, and "combo" holsters which can be worn either way. A basic (no bling or gingerbread) OWB is $65. The basic IWB is $75. The basic "combo" is $80.00. Then he has an "a la carte" menu of add-ons for dressing it up to BBQ grade. He makes matching belts too, if you want one, which start at $75.

His holsters are of very high quality and craftsmanship. I've posted these pictures before, but here are the two I've ordered before. The first one is the most recent. I gave that to my son for Christmas, to match the XDS-45 his wife gave him for Christmas. The basic holster by itself would have been $65. With the sweat shield, double stitching, ostrich leg overlay, and matching single magazine carrier, I paid $215 (time is money).


The second one is my own holster I bought a couple of years ago for my XDm-45 Compact 3.8. Again, the basic holster was $65. I had him add a reinforcement piece with a full-quill ostrich overlay. For that combination including the single magazine carrier, I was out $140.


But if all you want is a plain leather holster, $65 (OWB), $75 (IWB), and $80 (Combo) are very competitive prices, and I can't emphasize too much how well made these are. That second picture is my EDC holster. Two years later, it has some mild little wear marks which will be unnoticeable the next time I condition the leather, but it has held up very well. Heck, I even use it sometimes to carry my XDS, which fits fairly well in it, but a little more loosely. One of these days (when the wife isn't looking) I'm going to order another one dedicated to the XDS.

Retention on his holsters by the way is very good. One of the reasons I'm so big on Hopp's holsters besides pricing and quality is comfort. I have a really bad back, and any poorly designed holster which constantly applies pressure in the wrong places will make me miserable. In fact, it is one of the reasons I no longer wear IWB holsters. I have a drawer full of holsters like that which were great ideas, but didn't wear well. But my Hopp holster provides all-day comfort. Perviously, I've been a fan of Galco and Mitch Rosen holsters, and they are good holsters, but Eric Hopp provides at least as much quality - if not more - at a more affordable price.

I am not connected with his business in any way except as a customer. Eric is a really nice guy who delivers a superior product at a great price, so I want to see him succeed. He's doing well enough now that he stopped being an insurance salesman and part-time holster maker, and is now making holsters full-time and has a nation-wide customer base.

There is only one "down-side", and that is that he stocks no off-the-shelf models. Each holster is custom made to the buyer's specifications, so the delivery time is dependent on the season and how busy he is. But if you are willing to consider custom made and have the time to wait for to be built, I can't recommend his holsters highly enough. BTW, I learned of him through another member of this forum, who also got a nice holster from him.

I do not own a BE but in regards to holsters I can highly recommend D. M. Bullard. I have several of their holsters and prefer the dual carry for the fact IWB/OWB is an easy swap if I desire to change. Build and quality is also outstanding. The dual carry for my SIG's came in a tight fit but were broke in within a week of use.
