In my opinion..... If they were good at customer service, they would have given you the refund graciously and as a credit to your card, instead of warning or admonishing you with that "one time courtesy" comment and giving you the refund in trade, keeping your money in their pocket.
I will never again shop at CTD. Your experience only serves to reinforce my opinion. YMMV.

I'm not a fan of companies doing this

when I just spent hundreds of $$ with them.

Now you can afford 1/2 of a 30-round Magpul from them.
Or a box of .22 that they bought in bulk from a big box store and are improperly reselling in smaller quantities.
Cheaper than Dirt is dead to me. . . their political and commercial opportunism, including gross price gouging, after both the 2008 election and after Sandy Hook sealed it for me. There was no excuse for temporarily pulling AR-15s. One might argue that the price gouging was their right given supply and demand, and that's true, but I hope what they made on a few select transactions was enough to compensate for all of the principled customers they lost.

timtheteacher, I apologize if this seemed overtly negative. CTD's past actions aren't your fault, and I do appreciate you sharing your experience. This being your third post, I presume you're relatively new to the forum and may not have known about CTD's reputation.
I'd expect a lot of stores to do something similar, even though they don't have to. In fact, at one major big box store, my wife accidentally picked up some gold-plated, diamond-tipped 5.56 ammo that apparently George Washington himself loaded at Mount Vernon. . . when I saw the price, after regaining consciousness, I panicked and called the store. They let me exchange it for some basic, mass produced, brass and lead jacketed hollow point ammo intended for us common folks to use (even though ammo is a no refunds, no exchanges, no exceptions purchase).
Anyway, I don't want our welcome to be anything less than warm. Any perceived nastiness is completely a learned (and now automatic) reaction to reading the name of the retailer you mentioned in your post and is directed at them, not you.

The guy got a good deal, good for him. It wasn't my money, so he can spend it where he likes. Last I checked this was America. They can charge what they want and you don't have to buy it.

Good catch fickman...
Sorry if my post seemed a bit terse

. I'm not a fan of CTD, but very much welcome timtheteacher.

Here's a reply I received a few days ago in response to some feedback I sent to Costco, regarding an item I purchased there about 18 months ago that I am only now finding is of poor quality. I didn't ask for anything... I was just letting them know they might want to reevaluate their vendors quality.
We appreciate you taking the time to email Costco Wholesale.
We are sorry to learn you were unhappy with an item you purchased from us, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate hearing feedback and have forwarded your input to our buying staff for their review.
Our goal is to exceed your expectations on every product you purchase at Costco. But we also recognize that sometimes we fall short. That’s why we offer what we believe is one of the best satisfaction guarantees in the industry.
If you are not completely satisfied with your Costco purchase, simply return the product to any Costco warehouse. Please include the product packaging if you have it, although we do not require it for a return to be processed. We also prefer that you provide your original receipt, but if it is not available, we will do our best to process your return without it.
Thank you,

I may have other concerns about Costco, but CS is pretty top notch.

HA. That's horrible customer service. I'd have cancelled the order all together and supported a better business.

Seems a little backhanded and condescending to me. Here's a discount so you can buy some more overpriced stuff from us in the future.

Just like grocery stores, CTD has a few things at a good price to get you there, but gouges on others. I went in once and saw a very decent price on a CZ handgun I was interested in (but didn't buy), and .22 ammo for
$60 (100 rounds). WOW.
They have a high tolerance for shame.

I can't find .22 ammo for any price here in Lubbock, but that sure seems expensive :)
