Ed Drew is a veteran who is using Civil War era tech, tintypes, to photograph modern day warriors.

I thought some of y'all might be interested in the technology - others will appreciate the art involved in making these photographs. And others? Well, here are some interesting photographs of the Air Force's Special Operations folks (didn't know the Air Force did Spec Ops, huh?).

It's interesting and I do appreciate the art in it, but I'm too lazy to work these old film processes these days since I can duplicate just about anything in Photoshop.

Very cool stuff, although I'm with VMI77. It is good that someone keeps these old processes alive, but personally I can duplicate all of the effects using PhotoShop filters. All the same, I really like the pictures.

Nice pictures. For the first few pictures I thought that there were a lot of leftie soldiers out there, then saw on the closeups that the patches were all backwards too..
All the Air Force PJs I have met were really impressive guys !

The Air Force generally doesn't get out there in popular culture and movies and such. I mean we had Iron Eagle movies and then the one guy in Transformers (combat controller) and the AC-130 gunship, and I guess the para rescue guys from Black Hawk Down.

With the later stuff evening out the Iron Eagle movies, we are starting fresh basically :D

Cool photos. More work than I care to take on, but I appreciate the result.

Even with the reversed image, this guys flag is still backwards.

Your first field op is when the obligatory 'bad mamma jamma' pictures were usually take...these guys looked like they'd be past that. after that, it was stupid stuff like putting an M60 sling on a MK19 and act like we 'bout to shoot from the hip...lol
