That one brings back some memories. After spending more than 2 decades in the military I've seen those words scrawled on everything one could imagine. We were training in the Delta Corridor, 29 Palms California in the early 80's and those words were painted on a desert tortoise in white. A bit faded over time but clearly visible. Did you do that??

There is even an image of Kilroy on the WWII Memorial in D.C.

The last time I was in 29 palms (true story), I was being escorted about by a (attractive female) park ranger from Joshua Tree Nat'l Monument after having lost my car keys at the Indian Cove campground the night before. She was driving me to a bank, and then to a locksmith. It was circa 1979-1980, and I deny having been out the night before painting desert tortoises. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Having been an Army brat I was aware of Kilroy and his antics, but always assumed that he was infantry or some sort of ground pounder. I was scraping paint off part of the inside of my gun mount in 1967 and came across his image burned into the back wall of the gun mount under what may have been decades worth of paint. I have to assume that someone with a torch working on something decided to modify the metallurgy a little.

Lucas lighting does NOT fail. The wiring just looses it's smoke! New smoke IS available.

It would be fun if it was, but that gun mount was replaced after being "bent" in a kamikaze attack in 1945. The metal was discolored but not burned through, as if someone ran a torch over the surface fairly quickly. It may go back to the shipyard where the overhaul of the damage from the attack was done.

Well, I need all of my supply for the MG TD in my garage. I think you can get all you need at the auto supply places that sell the 3 position Lucas "Dim-Flicker-Off" switches.

G26ster, I texted a copy of that picture to my brother who has been (ever so slowly) rebuilding a 1972 Series 3 XKE-12 2+2. I only ever got to drive it once, and it was a memory I won't forget, but we were blessed that it was mid-afternoon, so Lucas had not come out of his lair yet. He liked the picture.
