My wife has the 9mm version and loves it. It appeals to me and I might consider one myself if I didn't already have the role filled.

Cons:
thumb safety is kinda small / non-fun to work
the loaded chamber indicator is huge.

Pluses:
nice trigger
feels good in the hand
good sights

There are decent magazine options for it, similar to a glock, the full size version mags run well. I will say that the magazine safety hasn't been an issue at all for function.

I removed the mag safety on my Ruger SR9. When it stopped being reliable (striker didn't reset when fired requiring re-racking slide) with 10% of shots failing to fire, I figured I'd call Ruger and have them fix it. Customer Service told me that my removal of the mag safety voided the warranty.

I replaced the mag safety device and have never had a failure to fire since then.

I have an SR40C and like it so much (even though its not a 1911), I now carry it instead of my G23. While the internals looks suspiciously 'glock-ish' I found the trigger & ergonomics so much better that I shoot it better (in 40S&W) than a G23 (even when converted to 9mm). And its cheaper than a Glock. And made in America :-)

Also, my mag disconnect parts "fell out and can't be found" and I have had no reliability issues after a few hundred rounds (mostly handloads with XTPs and various hard cast lead bullets - including my hand cast, plus Hornady & Fiocchi XTP factory and Winchester bonded JHP).

I *think* having the mag disconnect installed requires you to be 'more' careful about dry-firing, which seems silly to me:

I had at least a couple thousand rounds before I had consistent troubles. Your journey may not be over yet.

thanks for the info. I'll endeavour to put more rounds through mine more quickly to see if I have the same issue.
