I came across this: a portable smoking gun
It's an interesting concept. Anyone have any experience with it?

interesting. I can't wait to see the replies to this question.
I have a hard time believing it would work in the place of my propane smoker.

Propane tastes so bad to start with, I just can't imagine that smoking it would be that much of an improvement.
I'm going to stick with the unlimited supply of mesquite wood that God gave us here in TX.

Huh, a motorized bong.
(Our smoke detector would have gone off for sure!)

Yeah, my smoke detector wouldn't like it either, but it looks like a cool idea. I've seen them used on the Iron Chef show before.

Smoking meat actually seals the smoke flavor into the food as it cooks. This is like pouring a liquid smoke flavor on the outside. I can't see it being nearly as tasty.

There are a couple other videos that show the amount of smoke produced is large coming from a small amount of chips. There is no way I would use it inside.
There are also a couple of recipes for smoked drinks. That sounds interesting, but not necessarily appetizing.
I do like kitchen gadgets. This one would probably sit in a cabinet with others, once the novelty wore off.

I agree. I think it would be more useful on things other than meat.

Or until the Texas legislature legalized marijuana use.

I was wondering how many could be found on college campuses when I saw the video.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a restaurant and had smoked swordfish pate as an appetizer. It was very good.
The pate had just a hint of smoke. I wonder if they used one of the handheld smokers to "smoke" the fish.

I prefer to eat my fish.
