About twice a day if i open an attachment or second screen on a web page
i get this Chinese or Asian script across the top of the screen in blocks about 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch and its overlayed on the web page link, but not part of the web link or the navigation line,
any idea what it is?
my anti virus doesnt pick it up and i have no ill effects other than it makes reading the web address harder
i tried to do a screen pic but it does not show up

thanks

Did you actually run the program "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware"? There is a free and premium version. This will save your butt when antivirus programs miss things. Highly recommended.

:iagree: Even just running the free version periodically will do a great job on keeping the data mining and redirecting software off your machine.

cb1000rider and I have pointed you to the same place. Almost for sure you have malware and the best program is Malwarebytes. Saved me in the past. Check back with you later.

I don't believe it is malware. I have encountered this problem also and I am convinced it is a glitch in Mozilla's software. I don't get the same issue when using Internet Explorer.

that might just mean the malware is browser-specific :-)

Are you seeing this only within Mozilla's Firefox? What you're describing sounds like a problem within your browser rendering the page correctly. Try disabling some add-ins and retracing your steps or using another browser. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/di ... ve-add-ons" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Years ago Firefox was a very good alternative browser the Internet Exploder, however today they have lost that edge. Google's Chrome is superior to Mozilla's offering in terms of compatibility and stability.

I get the same thing with Firefox, but not IE or Chrome. It's only on the tabs across the top. I also thought it might be malware, but many scans with different anti- products hasn't found anything. What I have found with Firefox, when it displays those Chinese characters, is if I reduce the Firefox window size to really small and then open it back up, the odd characters are gone. I only noticed this with the last couple of Firefox automatic updates. I'm on 35.0.1 now, and see the issue occasionally.
