Left handed ?

I had a freak thing happen last Saturday . Was driving to work and a pickup pulled out in front of me on a service road . Our 9 year old full size rat terrier was sitting on the seat next to me , she weighs about 25 pounds . I put my right arm out instinctively so she wouldn't fly into the dash , I stopped her but felt a flash of pain and heard something crunch in my right shoulder joint . Since then I can't hold my right arm up at all without considerable pain in the joint .
I'm not looking for sympathy at all , that's not the point of the post . The point is that I'm pretty much out of commission as far as reacting quickly to draw my pocket gun and would have to shoot from the waist . I had not planned on a situation like this but such a thing could happen to anyone . I'v tried shooting left handed several times in the past and it was always a fail , never really put much effort into mastering shooting with either hand . I think I'll start practicing some left handed , could be a good thing .

Indeed...shooting left handed is different. I often practice one-handed (both left and right). Sure, I'm slower, but it still pays off. Believe it or not, I'm better one-handed with my off (left) hand than I am with my dominant (right) hand.

Weak-hand shooting is taught to law enforcement in case they are injured and must shoot with the opposite hand. As stated, it is tough. The best bet is to practice with your weak hand when you go to the range. You can work on sight picture, grip, etc at home, then be ready to shoot at the range. Just like strong side shooting it is all muscle memory, so the more you do it, the better and easier it becomes and the better shot you will be.

:iagree:

I am right eye dominant, born left handed and raised by a mother who thought EVERYONE was supposed to be right handed.

Shooting left handed is actually easy for me if a little slower. But I do have to compensate for the eye dominance. :coolgleamA:
