That's a beautiful pistol. Knowing Sig's quality, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I have to ask though, what is a "fastback 1911"? I've never heard that term. :headscratch

'fastback' refers to the curved mainspring housing. i think 'bobtail' is the more common term but that word is copyrighted so Sig calls them 'fastback.'

I suspected that's what you meant, but wanted to make sure.

I didn't know "bobtail" was copyrighted.

I'm sorry, but your pistol has a MAJOR issue! The controls are all on the wrong side.

I didn't know 'bobtail' was copyrighted either, until I spoke with someone who has intimate knowledge of all things Sig.

Tam - I custom ordered it that way to make sure no dirty southpaws can pick it up and use it ;)

thanks!

Some of those/us "dirty southpaws" are ambidextrous...

had a couple too many last night and today's hangover limited my shooting time. I did manage to get 48 rounds down the pipe and WOW, this thing shoots reaaaal nice, Clark.

I managed a group of 16 rds into about 7-8" a group (based on an eyeball measurement) from about 40-50 ft away from the paper - again eyeball measurement. The 4-1/4" barrel is absolutely perfect for me; easy to control the recoil and the sight radius is SO much better than the 3-3.5" barreled 1911s. The shaped MSH really makes concealment a breeze and shooting REALLY comfortable. While the weight isn't tank heavy... it's up there. loaded with 8 rounds, you can definitely tell it's hanging on your belt... never became uncomfortable though.

I did encounter 4 failure-to-feed malfunctions, all were the same: nose up jam causing the lip of the case (230gr .45 FMJ RN) to get caught on the top of the chamber. I'm gonna snag a couple nice mags - Tripp, Chip or Wilson probably. Gonna keep putting rounds through it, strip it down and clean/lube it up tonight and reassess later this week.

Overall I love this thing. I made a quick holster for it Friday and wore it on a few errands over the weekend. Need to reform the kydex to give a little better retention but, other than that, she carries really well! So nice to have steel on my hip again.
