P238 Front Sight moving.

I have a Sig Sauer P238 that I carry, and noticed the sight is shifting to my right! I don't know how this is happening. I recently got night sights installed on it in.. September with no problems of it moving. Used the same holster, too. I'm going to adjust it myself, but I want to hear some feedback as to how to make it stop moving on me.

I can't carry it now, so I'm using a Sig P6 in its place.

Thanks for your feedback. :tiphat:

Whoever installed the night sights apparently didn't fit them correctly (too lose).

About the best you can do is to completely remove the sight and then re-install it using RED locktite. The biggest problem is that using a hammer and punch to move tritium sights is a bad idea. It's too easy to break the vial. A sight pusher is the correct way to do it.

If it were me, I'd take it back to the installer and have him make it right.

See if it had any locktite on it before jumping to the red. If not, go with blue.

I went ahead and took it back to the person who installed it. They fixed it, but just a few carry days later, I looked at it and it moved again. So.. looks like locktite it is. Is the Red stronger than the Blue? Also, does anyone have any experience applying some on when sliding it back into place?

Again, thanks in advance fellas. :tiphat:

With Blue, you can remove the fastener with mechanical strength.

With Red, you'll need an application of heat, a lot of it, to remove the fastener.

Really surprised they didn't put any thread locker on your front sight, especially after you took it back to them.

That makes two of us. You live and learn.

Just aggravated that I can't carry my cute lil gun. Carrying a P225 with no night sights is hard to adjust to, though, it does satisfy with its slimness. At least I'm accurate with it. I guess that counts, right?

Thanks in advance. I still don't know how to apply it though. Dab some, move the (front)sight? Still confused.

Btw, where can you get that stuff? Home Depot? Lowes?

Had to dig out my P238 remember that the front sight is also a dovetail as opposed to a screw fixed sight like I was thinking. A couple of drops as you push the sight into position should do the trick.

You can get Loctite at most hardware stores, big box 'home' stores, etc. The bottles are 'red' but read the label for which color you're buying.

If you were in H town I'd hook you up.

I was born in Harris County! Raised in San Antonio. Family in Missouri City, still.

I appreciate your feedback. I'm heading to my local hardware store now and update when I applied everything. Wish me luck. Cheers. :tiphat:

Applied the Loctite to it a few weeks back, and I'm happy to report that it hasn't moved. Shoots straight (as straight as I can shoot, anyway. :P) and the Loctite seems to be doing its job.

Thanks again Scott, Andy and Paw-Paw. :tiphat:
