...............YEP ! Already knew that. Actually they forgot a few things , claim your children have mental/physical problems , you get more . They didn't add in the free child care and of coarse they get free medical , lunches , etc . I have seen this in action and yes it is a reality . The WIC program provides food , diapers , basically all the necessitys for baby's plus medical after you get your all expense's paid for by the state absolutly paid for baby . My opinion ................NO COMMENT .

I've been doing it wrong. When I signed up for federal benefits, I had to wear special clothes and show up every day on penalty of imprisonment and say stuff like "I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution..."

While I share the sentiment and concern there are some problems with this example. In my experience this kind of scheme only works for people that have no assets. Assuming the BF has to put some money down to buy the house he has some assets. Even if he doesn't he has a mortgage that he has to pay and he will have to pay property taxes. The $10,800 in rent for the GF is income for him.

Most significant, if he cares about his children the GF has all the leverage. If she decides she wants a brand new shiny BF she can kick him out of the house and get the court to make him pay child support, especially since he's already acknowledged a child as a dependent on his tax return. If she kicks him out he will still be responsible for the mortgage and property taxes and she can simply stop paying him the rent. In many places it could take him a year to get her evicted, and under the circumstances, he might not be able to get her evicted at all as the court may just consider her rent part of the child support. He can declare bankruptcy, lose whatever he put into the house, but it doesn't change his basic situation.

So, for this stuff to work you pretty much have to be an unethical deadbeat who doesn't care about your children. If the guy is fathering children with a woman willing to do this she is an unethical deadbeat as well. That's hardly the kind of person with whom you can trust to maintain a long term child rearing relationship. The false premise underlying this is that the GF has any need or use for the BF. Her sugar daddies are Uncle Sam and Big Daddy Government. She doesn't need a BF to have children and there is no part of this scenario that requires a BF's participation. In fact, the only reason for her to include a BF in this scenario is because it would be easier to stiff him for the rent than a regular landlord, and to get more money in the form of child support.

I'm not too terribly worried about this particular end-to-end use case. Why? Because there is no way that someone that lazy is going to do the work required to set that up.
I am massively concerned about the real welfare system in this country.. You know, the one called "permanent disability". I know a few people in this category ranging from a very healthy 30-year old woman (who lives at home) to a less-healthy 67 year old man who is quite capable of actually holding a job.... Both, and quite a few more, are living the "retired" lifestyle thanks to that "permanent disability" status.

I've never even heard a thank-you from either in regard to the continued support of my tax dollars.

Course, the reality is that with the cost of healthcare (pre and post Obama) that the vast majority of Americans are going to fall into the "need help" bucket unless things change.

The WIC program doesn't provide diapers and all medical. I used to work for them. It is for children 5 and under and pregnant/nursing mothers. They provide nutritious supplemental food under a certain income. When you see the red WIC label, that means it's healthy! They provide counseling on healthy eating and monitor the children's growth. Many mothers cannot afford enough formula and dilute it to make it stretch. WIC helps them avoid this. Many low ranking military qualify for this program and I'm so thankful it's available for them! It is NOT Food stamps where you can buy whatever you want, you can only buy items that meet your dietary needs.

No doubt what you say is true but I still remember working with a Hispanic guy who was quite put out by the fact that one of the younger Hispanic guys at the same company had a new baby and was getting WIC. The reason he was put out was that the younger guy was always talking about going out to dinner and movies and the older guy deeply resented being careful with his money while the younger fed off his tax dollars and went to dinner and movies. I doubt anyone who isn't pathological would be put out at this kind of assistance going to someone who truly needs it. The problem is that these programs subsidize irresponsibility no matter how they're administered. The bottom line, as Thomas Sowell has said, is that when you pay for something you get more of it.

I've come to the conclusion that any type of welfare, unless it is limited with certain restrictions, like time and work requirements, is to make people dependent on the government (socialism).

:iagree:

That has always been the plan since the start of the Great Society....captive voters who are dependent on the system will not bite the hand that feeds them.
