This week is Police Officer week. Stop and tell an officer how much you appreciate them, but yet better buy them a meal.
To our Forum LEO's thank you. I want to express to you and all officers my sincere appreciation for the wonderful jobs you do. I know the job of LEO's is more dangerous than ever. I pray for protection for all of the men and women behind the badge.

A good friend of mine back in California is a retired LEO, and he posted a very thoughtful piece on his blog today regarding this observance:

It's especially important right now to express thanks to all LEO's.
I hope their morale remains high even though the media has painted all LEO's with an ugly brush. I wouldn't be at all surprised if many seek other employment.
Example: NYPD criticized for shooting a man who was attacking an LEO with a hammer and got shot by the NYPD for his efforts. He had also attacked others with his hammer prior to being shot.
Yet, instead of criticizing the rampaging criminal, the media criticized the NYPD for shooting this maniac.
That's just wrong!
There are many examples of the police being unfairly treated or not allowed to do their jobs with proper protective gear i.e., the mayor of Baltimore and her crazy actions resulting in many LEO injuries, which were mostly preventable.
O.K. I'll stop ranting.
There are so many more examples, but I need to keep my blood pressure down.

One of the ladies that went to school with my wife and I posted on Facebook yesterday, giving praise and prayers for all LEO's. Her daughter is a Longview Officer of several years. I have several officers in our church that are good friends of mine. I replied back in her post that I believe most of the good ones don't get enough thanks, and the bad ones get all the publicity. Most good people realize that they have a very hard job, and they're really looking out for our best interest. It's just human nature to try and get away with something like a little speeding, etc. But we all know there are some really bad people out there, and thank God for LEO's willing to deal with that on a daily basis. When I was a kid, my parents taught me to always respect elders, teachers, police, and anyone in authority. My hat is off to all those who serve or have served in Law Enforcement in Texas and throughout our great country. God Bless You All.
