Carrying Habits

Yesterday I rushed out of the house and when I was pumping gas I noticed I subconsciously placed my wallet in my left front pocket, opposite to my holster. I realized after doing it for a year or so it became a habit. Glad I consciously did it so now I don't even have to think about it.
What are some beneficial habits you have that make carrying more effective or give more peace of mind?
Currently carrying a Glock 23

Well, when I'm in a public place, like a gas station parking lot, and I'm being approached by a stranger, it is a firm habit to casually slip my left hand into my left front pocket, and have the LCP, LCR, or Pico ready to pull.
Middle two fingers curled around the grip, trigger finger straight down the side.
I practice drawing this way at the range, and shooting various targets at 3 to 7 yards.
I developed this habit back when New Orleans/Louisiana unloaded their Katrina refugees on San Antonio and other Texas cities. It became very common to be approached in any parking lot, by invariably black males, with an "Excuse me sir.........". I'm afraid I got pretty good at being curt, for lack of a nicer word. Seems like this went on for about a year, before they either went elsewhere, or mended their ways

.
Now that I'm retired, and walk a lot in both urban and rural settings, the habit continues.
It's more subtle than getting ready to draw my "big gun". I mean I can do that pretty quckly, but there's no mistaking what I'm doing then.

Interesting.
I often times pull my shirt to make sure it isn't caught on my holster. I'd say it's a bad habit but there's been plenty of times when if I didn't, I wouldn't be CCing

I carry in a G-Code Incog at 12:00 with a stiff DeSantis belt. As a result, I find myself using the holster clips as something of a loadbearing point when carrying large, cumbersome things like big boxes.

I'm starting to fall back into the old Army habit of using the grip of my 1911 (3 o'clock IWB) as an armrest. Keep catching myself doing it lol.

I carry a pocket pistol most of the time unless I'm going out into town. Even then sometimes. I started keeping my keys in my left pocket along with my knife clipped inside pocket. (clip showing outside) I also look for signs before entering a building for the first time.

Mainly for me, it's keeping whichever hand is the "gun hand" free and empty of shopping bags, kid, or wife's hand, when in public. That's normally my left hand, but occasionally, it's the right. My method and manner of off-duty carry changes often enough, due to weather, clothing, and firearm choice, I haven't really developed any other "tells" or habits that I'm aware of. There's probably a couple I don't know about them, but I have no idea what they are.

Is that is what is meant by keeping your booger hook off the bang switch?

I carry all the time, just like my namesake:

Remember though...no single action in the tub with soapy fingers.
