I signed up for my CHL class this past week. The class is on June 29-30th. I don't envision much trouble with the shooting qualification. I do hope that the class will help with deciphering the handbook. Although I consider myself quite literate the Texas Concealed Handgun and Laws book reads like a plate full of overcooked spaghetti to me.

I am curious about the types of questions covered with the written test.

Welcome MrBug.
I wish you the greatest of skill in your qualifications, and welcome you to the board.
The test questions were mostly (it seemed to me) common sense, so I wouldn't worry too much about it - just pay attention in class and you should be fine.

You certainly are not alone in that regard. So, welcome aboard, you are in the safest place on the net for proper TxCHL info.
Since you were smart enough to get here, you are going to do well. No sweat. :)

The test is 50 questions, multiple choice and true/false. There are only a couple of questions that are tricky. As Seburiel said, common sense will get you through most of the rest. There should not be anything on the test that is not covered in the class.

And, your instructor should translate the Texas law book into English for you! Good luck with your class.

I figure just about the time I get a handle on this one out, they are gonna come out with a new one!!

There were nearly 30 people in my class and only on person failed the written test and he slept through most of the class. Don't sweat it, it is one of those things that you will have no problem with.

By the way, nobody failed the shooting portion (although some had no business firing a weapon given their lack of regard for safety).
