The above link is to a story about a Georgetown, Texas (Williamson County, just north of Travis County/Austin)
LEO who purposely had a fellow officer's rifle altered dangerously to teach him a lesson.
Had the rifle's owner/assigned officer not realized the problems, he could have endangered himself or others.
The offending officer has been fired from Georgetown PD.
Some joke huh?

Good thing the officer didnt confront some armed maniac with that rifle. The ex officer should have been fired and charged for assaulting those students. I say assaulting because I know thats what that ex officer would charge me with if I purposely tripped him.

So much for the brotherhood and looking after one another. That is some scary and stupid stuff the guy did. It's a shame guys like that get through the system and become cops. Unfortunately, nothing is foolproof.

This guy needs to NOT be a peace officer at all, never mind not just for Georgetown.

The real crime is the officer not being able to adjust sights or strip a BCG.
I kid. I kid.

More like kicking the students instead of tripping them.

Thing is....he can apply at another small town (usually) or department and get hired on. Scary, isn't it?

Well as bad as it is I have a hard time seeing a criminal charge for it. If something happened because of it but as is? That being said I think he is done. This will come up anywhere he applies. Unless he has a relative in some dept he has a snowballs chance of getting hired.

Sounds like he was fired for a pattern of behavior. He was a bully and a liar. If it had just been the gun incident he might have gotten away with a suspension, but picking on teenagers, coworkers, and lying to superiors makes him a huge liability and completely untrustworthy. Anytime a coworker sets out to "teach someone a lesson" they no longer need to be a coworker.
If I owned the shop where the gun was taken, whoever modified the gun would be looking for a new job also. He knew he was making modifications that would affect the performance of the weapon at the request of an individual who did not own the weapon and knew that the person to whom the weapon was assigned would not be aware of the modifications.

Bolt Carrier Group
When you install the bolt, firing pin, and all the little pieces parts into the bolt carrier, it becomes the BCG.
It's a military thing.
