If you're talking about the GOP majority that lied its way into office during the last election....I think it just comes down to being only concerned with their own power. They'd rather preside over the extinction of the country than do anything that would risk losing their place at the table. I was listening to the Glenn Beck show on the way to work this morning. He's got a couple guys filling in and they were mostly talking about this week's debate. The thing I don't understand is how so many in our government don't understand Obama's mission.
Are they deaf, dumb and blind?
Or, simply cowardly?
There may be a handful at the national level....more at the state and local levels. These days I figure anyone who is being attacked by the media, the Democrats, and the national GOP leadership must be doing something right. Unfortunately, it's not just politicians. If that were even possible.I'm sure the statement contained hyperbole, but the larger point is that corruption increased after the Republicans gained seats in the last election, it didn't diminish. I suppose it also depends on how you're measuring corruption. The way I interpreted the statement was that in addition to the usual quid pro quos, entrenched Republicans are getting outright payoffs that yield almost immediate results for the corporate interests handing out the payola.
