HPD Westside Command Center

My homeowner's association is having a community meeting this evening at the Houston Police Department's Westside Command Center.

I called to see if CHL holders could carry there, and the officer explained to me that, "no firearms can be carried into this building". Now, I didn't really expect a different answer, but I'd hoped for one.

So here's my question to the wiser ones here on the board. Is it proper that they ban firearms, or not? I figured that we couldn't carry past a secure area, but just in the building itself in a non-secure zone should be OK, or I'd have thought so.

What do you think?

I wouldn't have called to ask. Why call when you are expecting the answer you don't want and you think it is incorrect? If it's in the public and non-secure areas such as the jail, you should be fine to carry. Make sure you don't go into any court room areas.

Arte there any courts within the building?

There are no "unsecured" areas at Westside. Right thru the front door, where you go thru the metal detectors, you enter into the lobby for the municipal courts.
