Need Tyvek for Boy Scout Troop

I am an ASM for a Boy Scout Troop in Austin, and would like to get ahold of some free or very inexpensive Tyvek. Especially if you have left over rolls. (This is coming out of my pocket, so I emphasize the "free" end of the scale )

We use Tyvek for the boys to make DIY projects and gear such as shelters, tarps, tent footprints, bivy sacks, stuff sacks, etc. There's great lessons and satisfaction in making your own gear, and the boys enjoy the task (and the parents enjoy the $$ savings).

I'm willing to drive into Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, Belton, Temple area if necessary to pick up. Thanks!

I wish I could help, but I don't have any.

Contact a local hardware store and see if they will donate a roll or partial roll. I would think most should be willing to donate to the Boy Scouts as it would be a write-off.

You also might try writing DuPont, might be able to get partial /damaged rolls, though this is less likely due to shipping costs. However, they may give you a referral to someone local that would donate. Don't forget to check big box stores too (including walmart, they might donate cash straight up), local home depot should have a community budget for donations. Go in dressed up and check, you just might get some gift cards out of it, if not a roll or two -- almost assuredly if they have a damaged/partial returned roll you would get that. If no luck there, then homedepotfoundation.org might get you some gift cards as well. ACE also has been noted as being generous with some supplies.

Good luck!
