I have to ask though. what are the chances of that gun being lost/stolen? what model is it? any idea of its age? :bigear:
It's definitely a model 1911 as opposed to a 1911A1. A very early one, IMO. Made between 1911 & 1924. Could be a WW1 bring back, as many doughboys brought them back from the Great War. Just my opinion. ;-)

On a trip my mom & I made to Missouri back in 1962, I bought one of those bring backs. Govt. issue with proper markings. I paid $35.00 for it. I shot around 3,000 rounds through it while I had it. I was 15 at the time. A great gun.

Great restoration! Thanks for posting Andy! :tiphat:

Not to rub salt in the wounds, but I'd go to a Wichita Falls pawn shop & buy a box of 50 mil-surp .45acp's for $5.00 a box. :coolgleamA: But guns & ammo were a lot cheaper back then.
