Bachman Pawn

Does anyone know what happened to Bachman Pawn? I just stopped by there and the store was empty, boarded up and had a for rent sign on it.

Not sure exactly who the sales guy was, but I can make an educated guess. I like the shop and about half the staff (the guys who have been there for more than a month or two.)AndyC wrote:I doubt they'll be missed.
One which started well - and I gave high marks to at the time - is Plano's Gun Gear to Go. Haven't been back since the last time, when the salesman followed me around the store and planted himself right behind the counter each time I bent over to look at a handgun, glowering at me. About the 5th time this happened I'd had enough - I just straightened up, glowered right back at him and left.
Unfortunately, I'll agree with you there. Went in to check out the most recent sale today, nothing I was looking for was in stock and the member price was the same as the public price on the sale stuff. Combined with the hovering staff (literally every time we moved to a different counter, someone else was there), I'm pretty much done.AndyC wrote:Doesn't matter to me who he was - I don't like being followed, hovered-over and treated like a thief, so they've lost me and my goodwill forever.
No, not your imagination. I stopped in when they first opened and it was the same. Went back 2 more times and was the same so I haven't been back.AndyC wrote:I'm glad to hear it's not just my imagination, but it's such an unnecessary end to what started out as a great store to visit; I bought a fair amount of 1911, AK and AR parts among other things.
Classic low-key sales approach...make the prospect feel comfy...that's how I operate too!AndyC wrote:I worked in a gun store in Cape Town for a few years after I got out of the military, and my boss taught me NOT to say things like "Hi, can I help you?" - because it's irritating and folks will simply say "No, just looking".
Instead, he got me to say something along the lines of "Hello - feel free to browse around and grab me if you have a question" and just stay out of the customers' way.
After seeing their big tables at my first visit to a gun-show in Texas, I went into Bachman once - and loathed it.
thats the approach i prefer, bought a new car from a salesman that did that exact thing. Walked out said hi here's my card i'll be in the office if you want to test drive anything. If they follow me around like a stalker, I don't buy from them.AndyC wrote:I worked in a gun store in Cape Town for a few years after I got out of the military, and my boss taught me NOT to say things like "Hi, can I help you?" - because it's irritating and folks will simply say "No, just looking".
