So, we all know that Regal, in TX, has had non-enforceable postings for quite awhile now. Sometime yesterday, this hit FB and has been trending all day today. We pretty much always go to the Drafthouse anyway, but this is nutz

I certainly understand the intent, and if Regal Cinema's judgement a big dis-incentive to going to their theaters is customer perception of risk -- and a way to try to hand that risk this is searching bags -- then perhaps this visible albeit limited effectiveness approach may be something worth trying from a business standpoint. The last thing that theaters need to be doing though is finding more ways to make it unpleasant to go to a movie theater. I think hanging a sign offering a discount for armed LEOs and CHL holders would be more effective.

And Alamo Drafthouse is much better anyway... so for my family what Regal does is of little concern...

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anything in there about what they plan to do with CHL. Will they turn them out or invite them in?

Regal's corporate philosophy is firmly anti-gun.

Just another reason to stay home and watch Netflix.

No purse, no problem, they'll probably want to frisk you instead...

I have carried past quite a few "checkpoints" where they were looking into purses and bags, but no metal detectors and no signs.

Heck, I even carried past a metal detector once when it wasn't posted and I could tell they weren't really wanding people with large cameras (which I had). Good thing they made that place "gun-free" :???:

You must have one of them fancy plastic undetectable super pistols I keep hearing about, cuz everybody knows that the 17 year olds checking bags and such are awesome at finding guns!

Haha, I worked security for 8 years. I stood at the entrance for 10 minutes looking for a LEO to tell I was armed and show my CHL, but couldn't get anybody's attention. Finally realized everybody with a camera was getting wanded like 3 feet away from their body because the rent-a-cops didn't want to deal with it... Figured what the heck, I'm not breaking any laws.
