Why not just say I suck?

Every time I shot a bad round, I knew I mashed the trigger and saw it via my sight alignment right before the round goes off. It always strikes me funny that people on YouTube refer to a bad shot a “flyer” as if the load is inconsistent.

Oh sure, I suppose you are going to explain away the "flier" I had on the Par three the other day too...

ALMOST every errant shot can be explained by my own mistakes. I have had a few that left me wondering what the heck happened?

I don't know if a round or a gun can actually screw up one shot while getting the rest in the right place. I've shot some pretty banged up bullets that still hit their mark.

I don't know why you're asking me to say it, but ok. You suck :anamatedbanana

The sarcasm, I some times can't control it =)

I know I suck, but I sure wish I suck less.

The noted American philosopher Yogi Berra explained it this way:

"I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?"

A comment from a student last Sunday: "I always thought it was the pistol that shot low. Then you put five shots into one hole in the center of the target. Now I know--my shooting sucks."

The way to suck less is to practice more. :thumbs2:

WOW! 4 hours and 9 minutes for that response.

I am disappointed by the entire forum group here that no-one jumped on that earlier.

A good instructor/coach will be able to help you break your bad habits and decrease your suckiness.

Sometime it is the guns fault!

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change (a 2 moa gun is good for hunting 0-300yds but my $350 budget bolt action rifle with crappy factory ammo is not going to win me 1000 yd competitions) ,

The courage to change the things I can (continue improve my shooting skills, breathing, trigger control, follow through etc. (including bullet drop, doping the wind, range estimation, compensating for environmental factors etc. and learning handloading) and acquire sufficient gear to at least shoot at 1000 yds for practical purposes) ,

And the wisdom to know the difference ( I can shoot 1 MOA with one gun but not another, why not?).

When you at least know what the problem is you know how to correct it/improve.

You reach a point that sometimes your gear/ammo etc. is the limiting factor, and no amount of skill will improve performance with a given firearm. With most guns (except my AK-47 WASR 10/63, reliable but not accurate, it is what it is) I'm not there yet but I'm working on it.

And it came from a newbie! Hey, had to make myself known somehow =)
