Desoto Civic Center and Corner Theater

I see the Desoto Town Center, which probably includes the Civic Center and Corner Theater, is listed on texas3006.com as posted 30.06 because of a room used as a Municipal Court on Wednesdays. The entry lists the validity as "unsure".

There's an event there I want to attend, but naturally do not wish to do so in an unlawful fashion.

Does anyone know if the Civic Center and Corner Theater are part of the posted Town Center?

Or, maybe, the sign's been taken down. If it's still there I'll get pictures. If it's improper I'll start the proceedings to do something about it. I think it's city owned.

But I've never been there, I have no idea of the lay of the land.

Question answered - I called the Desoto police and had a very cordial conversation with an officer.

There is a courtroom at 207 Pleasant Run. Obviously, that's a no-fly zone for CHL. The civic center at 211 Pleasant Run is apparently separate, and I was advised I'd be welcome there and free to lawfully carry.

He mentioned no guns signs that he said used to be up, but were taken down when the newest laws went into effect. When I'm there I'll look for signs and update texas3006.com as appropriate.

This was my first conversation about CHL issues with a law enforcement officer I'd never met, and I must say I'm very impressed. He understood my point of view without my having to explain it. I was treated with cheerful courtesy and bid a kind welcome to his city.

I didn't know I had friends in Desoto. Turns out they wear badges.

My very best wishes for safety and warmest regards for professionalism and respect to the Desoto Police. Nice folks!
