Glock Generation 4 Finish

I traded my Glock 19 Generation 3 awhile back for a Glock 23 Generation 4 (new). My generation 3 finish was almost just as nice when I traded as it was when I bought it four years ago. I have noticed the past month or so that the finish on my generation 4 is already wearing.
Has anyone else noticed this or have you had this problem?

As far as I know there are Gen 4's made in USA which don't have the same parkerized finish like the early gen 4 and of course Gen 3, 2, 1 which used tennifer coating.
Some additional info is here.

Carl, I have a fairly new Gen4 G17, and I noticed the same thing too - that the finish on the gen4 slide does not seem as durable or as smooth as the finish on my wife's gen3 G19. There's one spot on the side of the slide right up by the muzzle that always seems to come out of the holster with scuff marks on it. That said, those marks always seem to wipe right off, so the "damage" doesn't appear to be real.

I've only had my Gen 4 for about 3 months. So no real time to test how it will wear. However it doesn't look or feel as nice as my old Gen 3. By this I mean not as dark, nor as smooth/slick feeling. Still cleans up well, and no damage yet. So still appears functional, personally I liked the old coating better though.

I just took a close look at one of my Gen 3's and a Gen 4. The Gen3 finish does appear to be a more durable one.

The Glocks from Austria have a Tenifer finish that involves the use of cyanide, the Smyrna made guns are made with a Tenifer finish that uses a gas application process that is supposed to be more environmentally friendly. Glock states the gas finish is just as durable as the cyanide finish. We shall see...

The Tennifer is the metal treatment not the finish. I like the late Gen 3 dark black finish but the dull finish on my Gen 4 is holding up well. I've seen pictures of Glocks through he ages and there have been the dull finishes in the past.
As for Tennifer I've heard that for years now Glock hasn't used it in years. This includes the Austrian made ones.
