Tell me about Alabama

I've gotta go there for a couple days. It looks like we got recirocity not too long ago with them correct? I was searching around their state law and it seems that you have to inform the owner of a house that you're armed before entering? I'm going with a pretty anti-gun person and I wouldn't want to give up this information unless completely necessary. I'll also be around the university of Alabama so it would be very tricky arming and disarming.
So then I'd be fine carrying Fox 5.3 and a pocket knife instead, but I see conflicting issues with knives. The state law says that a concealed knife "except as provided in this section" (which I can't find anything else) is punishable by 50-500 fine and 6 months hard labor. Then elsewhere it says that its just fine to carry pocket knives concealed. What does "concealed" mean to them? Does a pocket clip mean its in the open?
And what about pepper spray? Any laws against carrying a 2 ounce bottle around, what about in the university?

Pay close attention to the "knowingly with intent" info in the places you can carry section...
I know this website has not kept up with the reciprocity agreements, but that is covered in other places, and we know we are good in Alabama anyway...You just gotta follow their rules...
And they are not that bad...
Just watch out for those darned "demonstrations" in a public place...If you find yourself caught up in one of those, go somewhere else...Don't say anything to anyone...Just go...
BTW, have fun on your trip...
Be careful of the "sweet" tea at their restaurants, you could glaze a donut with that stuff!!! I got the unsweet tea everytime I was there...One pink packet was good enough for me!
Check out the link to Handgunlaws.us as well...They may have some more particulars that you might be interested in...
But for the most part Alabama was one of those little speedbumps we had to endure for a few years till we got the reciprocity agreement with them...
Just use good common sense, study up a little on their laws and rules and you should be ok...No need to walk on eggshells there too much...

Just go, carry, stay concealed, keep your mouth shut, and don't worry about it.
If you get "made", by some anti you're visiting, just leave. They're not going to call the cops, unless they are complately insane in which case the cops won't listen to them anyway.
Just act like a reasonable person wherever you go and you'll be fine. If they have some stupid law banning carry within 322.5 feet of an organized dog show just ignore it, because you can be sure that THEY ALL DO.
Sometimes we take this stuff WAY too far.

Their sweet tea is perfectly capable of putting one into sugar shock. When we got Alabama we got the ability to drive with our Handguns on our person on 1-10 from Arizona to Florida. When we get California we can go coast to coast. Don't laugh now, the abilitys we have now to travel would have seemed imposible in the mid 80s.
