Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo posted?

I'm sure the fair grounds are owned by the city or county but if they are posted I want to have a game plan when going Saturday. I know the rodeo counts as a professional sporting event but we have no plans on seeing the rodeo and I would think only the colosseum would be a legitimate no carry area.
Thanks,
Jason

You can carry into the State Fair. They will want to wand you. Tell the person that you need to have a police officer check your ID, and they'll let you in without scanning.

It appears to be held in what is now called the Extraco Events Center, which is owned by McLennan County (see footnote 1:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraco_Events_Center), which means that they cannot legally post 30.06 for the fairgrounds or other buildings. I'm not familiar with the event so don't know if the rodeo is being held in the coliseum itself or if there is another location for that on the grounds, but as you know the rodeo would be off limits.

The collective opinion when Rodeo's are discussed here seems to be they are professional sporting events. I personally think that's a stretch, but it's murky enough that I'd be wary of carrying to a rodeo.

Thanks for the info. Yes the rodeo will be inside the colleseum on the grounds but the fair is outside. I guess I could have googled that instead of watching baseball last night.

If it is posted at the gate to the outside entrance, I will find a leo.
Thanks,
Jason

I looked the up facility on Google earth and it is entirely indoors from what I saw. There are two main buildings one being the Heart of Texas Coliseum, the smaller of the two in front. Looking at the street view it's apparent the smaller front building is built for venues (originally Baylor Bears Basket Ball, seats 6000 for sports and 9000 for concerts. I'd say that's where the rodeo is held. The larger structure to the rear is not high ceilinged so may be the livestock barn and maybe house vendor tables during the fair. During the rodeo I'd venture the entire coliseum would be off limits
Edit: it appears I was too slow. One note the PRCA, Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, would probably take issue that they're not a professional sporting event.

True. However, his question is about the Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo in Waco.

Pay no attention to that old man behind the curtain.....

Out of all the posts from yours that I've read and all the information you've shared, I think we can let this one slide.
The other buildings are the animal barns and the out buildings for various other things (gun shows). I've been to the grounds many times including racing the arena cross one year. I haven't been to the fair since high school which was almost 20 years ago and way before I had my license. Funny thing is the arena cross has a pro class so it would count as a professional sporting event even though the rest of the race classes are amateur.
Thanks for all the help to those who chimed in.

The grounds are not posted but the colosseum is with legit signs. I didn't get a chance to snap a picture to file a complaint. I'm willing to bet that 90% of the events that take place inside the "Extraco Events Center" are already forbidden carry activities but that doesn't give them the right to post the signs.
