My daughter just told me I am going to be GRANDPA next year!!!!!!

By complete coincidence, the World's Cutest Granddaughters flew in yesterday with their parents to surprise The Old Man for his 70th birthday which was last week.

Congratulations! Granddad is a much easier job than Dad. You get to spoil them and irritate your daughter in the process. Life is good!

It's very important, too. Most of the problems we have would have been avoided if everyone had been raised by proper grandparents. Not everyone is so lucky, or has the opportunity, of course.

It's real easy at first. You just stand around, taking pictures, and posing for pictures while beaming proudly like you had something to do with it, then go home after a proper interval, leaving the new parents to their fate.

Then, it gets more complicated, because you have to be a proper example of wise, even tempered maturity, something the parents are not yet suited for and can't provide in the "heat of battle."
