Advise needed please
i have very little knowledge of the M1A and 1911 so I am reaching out to the experts here. I recently ran across the M1A and the colt 1911 in a pawn shop, i have the serial numbers for each and found out when they were manufactured, I just don't know anything about the history or if the parts in each are original to the guns.
the Colt 1911,
SN 68xxx, 1914 mfg year, the finish looks very worn, but to my untrained eye, not refinished.
markings: logo on back of slide, US PROPERTY on frame, H2 near magwell, PH on barrel, H above firing pin (this info from employee over phone - so not 100% sure)
What else should I be looking for, they have the price at over $2000
The M1A
SN 048xxx, build year 1989, the stock is not wood, asking $1600-1900 (maybe more, i can't really remember now).
should I concider these only as collectors items or could they be shooters with proper care?
Without being able to take them down and check every part or X-Ray for cracks, what can I do to not get ripped off with over priced display pieces? I value the history, but also the function if safe to do so.
thanks in advance
