I've been following this on an Indiana gun forum. A local nursing home had an 80-year-old resident die. He had no know relatives, no one to claim his body or organize his funeral, but he was a former Marine. The nursing home put out the word, and several venues (like the gun forum I was following) put the word out farther. His funeral was held yesterday (Tues, 17 Nov) with about 1,000 people in attendance. It was originally scheduled to be in a funeral home, but the funeral home learned how many people were coming and moved it to a bigger venue, a church, and from reports on the gun forum, there were still people standing outside.
