“These students don’t want me to be safe,” he said. “They don’t want students who agree with me to be safe. They just want their ideas to be safe and protected from any contrary point of view.”

Dershowitz has has been very vocal about this for a long time. When he was a student, the admissions boards at the Ivy League Schools had "quotas" for Jews. Not a minimum number, but a ceiling. Even though he graduated first in his class at Yale Law School, he decided to go into academia because, as a Jew, he could not get hired at any of the prestigious law firms. Read his book "Chutzpah" 1991.

Agreed, he is still so. But he has also been known to be honest about some things that go against his political grain.

For instance, he said, "Ted Cruz Was Among the Smartest Students I’ve Ever Taught".

He also said, “Off-the-charts brilliant. And you know, liberals make the terrible mistake, including some of my friends and colleagues, of thinking that all conservatives are dumb. And I think one of the reasons that conservatives have been beating liberals in the courts and in public debates is because we underestimate them. Never underestimate Ted Cruz. He is off-the-chart brilliant. I don’t agree with his politics.”
