So my time line is as follows
11/6 I completed the online application
11/11 I went in and did my fingerprints and mailed in my chl-100 along with my checklist to DPS
I see some people saying they received confirmation emails from dps stating documents were received. is that confirmation email only sent when you do online submissions? im inpatient and probably shouldn't be checking the status page as often considering its only been 2 weeks today. I just want to make sure everything was done properly. thanks!

I snail mailed my stuff, and I never got a email confirming the arrival of my documents. I think it's only for people who email their things in. They didn't "scan" my documents in until 34 days after I mailed them. Once you hit the 30 day mark, give them a call.

I submitted my electronic renewal on 11/6 and also am waiting. Thought a renewal might be a tad faster. Maybe they are bogged down by those folks just discovering they need a license to oc?

Today is 12/3/15. I logged in to check status of the renewal and fould that it now lists options for change of address and lost card, etc. Must assume it is in the mail now!

From computer entry to the mailbox--5 weeks to the day for the renewal.

I caved and called. they said they have my application and fingerprints, and they were just waiting on my CHL-100 certificate. I sent that in about a month ago. she said it can take 3-4 weeks for it to scan and process. she couldn't say much else about it. she just said if I want I can send in the certificate again. im just starting to assume the worst, like it being lost in the mail.

Just curious,
Does anything get started AFTER you have sent ONLY application in & sent CHL-100 in but have NOT done (electronic) fingerprinting yet? or do they wait till all 3 steps are sent? Just curious..
Keep Shootin

From what I understand, nothing starts until your application is complete.

so when does the 60 days actually start? from the day the online app is done or when they receive all docuements? I sent my chl-100 and did prints same day and they did not scan my chl-100 until the 18th of December. still no change on the website and still no plastic, its going on almost 2 months now.

Your application isn't considered 'complete' until they have received everything that you owe them to complete the application (ie, on-line application, or printing/signing/notarizing your application & affidavits; fingerprints done; CHL-100 submitted; and any supporting documents and/or court documents, if applicable).
If you had scanned your CHL-100 & uploaded it onto the DPS' server your 60-days would have started that day (provided that was the only item you still owed them to complete your application, as you had indicated above). You would have received a generic confirmation e-mail from them to let you know it was received, and you could use that date to reference later.
For documents that are mailed in, I would imagine that the date the last piece is received by the RSD is the date your application is considered 'complete', but this requires a bit of handling before it gets actually input into the system (so, to caveat this, I don't know if they calculate mailed-in documents from the 'delivery date', or the date they actually open it). With that in mind, I would suggest that those who can submit everything on-line do so.

so still waiting...its been officially over 2 months since I started the online application, did fingerprints and sent in my CHL-100. I called last week, and as of December 18th my application was awaiting a technician for review. not sure why exactly I got sent into review. I have a clean record, I just finished a Law Enforcement academy and passed my state TCOLE test. Ive been in Texas for 4 years now, and have only has a speeding ticket given to me in this state. I lived in Illinois most of my life and only things Ive ever really gotten were traffic citations.
I am pretty annoyed now with this wait. im also annoyed that the instructor I had for the CHL course suggested we mail our packet in because Austin is close and should only take a day for them to receive it. he also said the online submissions almost always have problems. going off of his advice it was snail mailed and wasn't scanned for over a month and a half.

It's finally in!! I took my first walk to gander mountain! It felt akward, I was somewhat paranoid most of the time, kept re adjusting the gun with my forearm. I determined it was my belt, so I went ahead and purchased a pretty thick 5.11 trainer belt from gander, seemed to solve to issue. But of course I had to test this and decided on a trip to HEB, it was definitely the belt. My hip seems somewhat sore, probably because I'm not used to carrying it IWB for longer than a couple of minutes.
