Hi, Im totally new to forums and am waiting to see if I can get my chl/ltc here in tx. About 10 years ago though I was arrested and received deferred adjudication. I am really looking forward to getting my license as I am a law abiding person, havent even got a speeding ticket since then. Im a vet and all that stuff, should i be worried that i may get turned down? Thanks in advanced.

For what were you arrested? For purposes of CHL, deferred adjudication counts as a conviction, and you can still be disqualified.
Class A and B misdemeanor convictions will disqualify you for between 5 and 10 years. Felonies are effectively permanent.

I'm not the expert around here but I think you'll be fine. Here's the eligibility requirements.
http://www.texaschl.us/eligibility.htm You do still have to list that arrest though either way.

DA counts only for 10 years, unless it is a crime listed in the statue (Burglary of a habitation comes to mind), then it is a permanent DQ. A true conviction for a felony is a DQ.
OP, we need to know what it was.

I was arrested in mid 2005 for interrupting an emergency call. I was trying to leave home and my wife at the time called 911 to keep me from leaving, I had no idea she had dialed 911 so i snatched the phone from her hand and it hung up on the operator. they called back and i answered and of course was surprised. they asked if everything was ok, i said yes but can you please send someone out, thinking they would tell my then-wife to just let me leave the house. when the sheriff got there he said he had to arrest me because it was the state making the arrest not my ex pressing any sort of charges which she didnt.

Reading 46.062 which is what I assume the conviction was under? It says a Class A unless there are repeat offenses in which case they go to state jail felony. So I assume you should be okay.

Honestly, this was so long ago that i do not remember what it was under so i have no idea. The whole time frame as far as that marriage time period is really erased from my mind, it was not a happy time. I guess what worries me is, if i get turned down, will i need to wait longer to get licensed or am i dq for good?
