In the same vein, the New Zealand Defense Forces are replacing their Steyr AUG bullpups with LMT CQB16 M4 Carbines, and they are replacing their SIG P226 pistols with G17s. Glock is making inroads.

I will still stick with the Sig, also own Glocks, but I prefer the Sig. I'm all for anything that gives our troops an edge, or lightens their load. I'd guess the Seals can carry whatever gear they prefer.

I have nothing against Sigs at all. I just think it is interesting that there are two instances almost back to back of separate military units replacing Sigs with Glocks. It causes me to wonder what is going to happen with the aging M9, since Beretta's offering for trials was rejected, as I recall. Are there Glocks in the US future service-wide? Inquiring minds want to know.

I wouldn't read too much into the selection of one firearm over another.
It has to do with how the organization writes the purchasing specification.
They can easily eliminate a manufacturer by the way it is written.
Excaliber posted an excellent explanation of how the process works.
When I find it, I will post the link to this thread.
Found it! Discusses DPS dropping the M&P.

NSW is the only SOCOM that has not gone to Glocks. Glocks have a long and satisfactory track record in Specops. The contract with Sig has expired. Glocks are less costly, are smaller and lighter as well. The 19 will replace both the 226 and 239's.
I've not heard it said, but the Glocks are also better grips for smaller feminine hands.
The HK 45C remains the suppressed fire pistol choice.

Should be interesting to see how they respond to Glock Leg.

My every day carry is a Glock 26 with Pearce grip. Accurate, easy to clean, extremely reliable (500 rounds through it and never a FTE or FTF).
Hope to buy some more Glocks down the road (the Glock 19, 30, etc.).
