Has anybody used an ultrasonic cleaner to clean a gun or AR parts? My only real concern is the springs ( Will the cleaner mess with the tension?)

Yes you can. Just use the correct cleaning solution for metal. No issues with springs.

To emphasize Beiruty's point, while we always want to match the process to the part and the solvent to the soil, be very careful to ONLY use recommended cleaning solutions compatible with BOTH the part and the device / process . :nono:

For example, improper use of a flammable cleaner that is quite suitable for hand detailing could provide unexpected and unwelcome results when ultrasonically agitated.

Be careful what you put in as some finishes can be destroyed. I usually only clean parts like BCG's, pistol barrels etc. and I avoid cleaning frames. It works very well on suppressors.

...and don't put dissimilar metals together in the same batch.
