LOL. Actually, it was a "credible threat". According to Fox News, the threat was phoned in to a board member of LAUSD, and it was specific to date and time....but not to campus. There are over 900 schools in LAUSD, and all of them have been shut down until they can be searched. I presume that the threat is a bomb.

Bomb threat is what it says on Drudge. These days a credible threat is any threat. But I think the statistics are that most bomb threats at schools are from students wanting out of school or just malicious fun.

Is school still in session ? Since Christmas is next week I wouldn't think so - I always remember getting out more then a week ahead of Christmas. I know all the Colleges that I'm aware of are done or wrapping up with Finals this week.

640,000 kids told to stay home. There are many more school districts in Los Angeles county that are not effected.

If one is intent on actually causing harm, why would one announce it in advance rather than just claiming credit later?

Agreed, and advance warning is not the ISIS pattern, so it is probably not that particular org.

The AP is now reporting the threat was electronic, i.e., an email, that originated overseas. How exactly the latter could be 100% determined, I don't know. Evidently, this is the largest school closure over a bomb threat in history.

They are probably going by the IP range of the server/host that sent the email - now that can be spoofed but if it was a Kid hoping to get out of Finals - probably not spoofed.

This. It is possible to track IP with email.

Reuters reporting that the IP address is in Frankfurt Germany.
