I saw in a post that it was recommended that a person should get some training. Do you train/practice? What do you? I go to a Thursday night class, we practice low light shooting lots of dry fire and muscle memory then I try to go during the week and practice what I learned.

Once a month me and a coworker go to a firearms simulator in Waco. In 30 minutes we generally "fire" around 700 rounds. It's the same simulator that the local PD and sheriff's depts use and most if not all of the local PD's are also customers. The owner is a deputy and you learn when and when not to shoot, instant feed back and critique on what you did or did not do correctly, and have moving targets.

I'm new to handguns and CC so I am taking my training seriously. I try to go to the range at least every other week, sometimes with my wife.
I start with a trigger control drill. I load a snap cap and a live round in the magazine. I fire the live round then pull the trigger on the snap cap while carefully watching my sights. I have a terrible tendency to lower the muzzle in anticipation of the recoil. I keep working this drill until I can hold the sight on the target during the follow through.
Then I practice shooting over my body from the strong side, then shooting from the strong side with one hand, and finally shooting straight ahead. For all of these exercises, I load 5 rounds. I fire the first round using a DA trigger pull and the remaining rounds SA. I fire the first two shots at the same target then the last 3 at different targets.
Finally, I finish with some plain accuracy practice including the long range targets.
My range no longer allows practicing live draw from a holster so I am going to load some snap caps and practice that in my back yard.
Anyone have more suggestions?
