The Four Big Rules

I figure about the most important thing to talk about to anyone new to self-defense is safety. I'm not an instructor or an authority, but you know how it goes - conversation sometimes turns to topics that have very specific channels of thought. Guns are like that.

The only credentials I have are that I've survived myself so far. I try to always remember that's "so far," because if I ease up I'll be a youtube hero and I don't want to go viral.

So it is for all of us. I don't know this guy's background, but I heard on Gun Talk he hasn't been enthusiastic about gun freedom. A Google search led to the news story of the anti-gun sheriff who maimed himself while cleaning a firearm.

Here's hoping for his speedy recovery, and perhaps an awakening that a bullet in flight doesn't pay much attention to a badge. Nobody gets a pass on the four rules, which I'm guessing could have saved a lot of anguish here.

My best wishes for the sheriff's speedy recovery so that he can then go get firearm training. I think it's typical for people who don't know how to manage a firearm (low information types) to be in the anti-gun circle.

...after his personally-owned handgun....
So, it's ok for him to own a handgun but not the rest of us? :banghead:
......a Glock pistol, discharged, shooting Johnstone in the hand.
Glocks are now capable of firing themselves? Must be the new Gen8 with the micro processor. :biggrinjester:
He certainly seems well versed in gun safety.
