Don't see anything that would make it illegal.

Legal? Why not? It's a belt holster and the gun is in it.

My concern, though, is that of all the types of holsters that will be legal for OC and for all those that worry about someone taking the gun away from you, this might be the worst location to OC. I know it rarely happens, but at least with one at anywhere less than 4 o'clock ones arm is next to it, but at 9 o'clock there's nothing.

Why would [someone] want to open carry behind [their] back? That's just inviting someone to take it.

ETA specificity

Didn't see where he said he wanted to. Just saw where he asked if it would be legal.

9o'clock? What time zone are you in? Must be Pacific or something... there's a lot of SOB out there, unless it's daylight saving time.

I carry at 9 o'clock, one arm is nearby.

While potentially unwise, I don't see any reason why it would not be legal.

I occasionally do carry SOB, and there are a few good reasons why I do. I believe it is safe, and wouldn't be that liable for a quick snatch snatch and grab.

The gun that I carry this way is my Beretta P92 FS, A fine accurate reliable gun. But the thing is big and it is heavy, It is easily capapble of pulling a round bodied man's pants and belt to their knees. The holster I use to cage this beast is an Uncle Mikes Side kick. I wear it ITW SOB. It is padded nylon with retention. The P92 isn't my every day. but some days it is the most suitable carry, at least for me.

I will where this if I am outside walking a lot, I won't wear it if I will be driving more than a half hour or so, This is pretty comfortable if I am outside walking, and not likely to be getting to close to people. It doesn't chaff on me like a 3:00 on the hip does when walking for a while. It is very well concealed and leaves less of a bulge than the subcompact does on my hip.

If I were to tuck my shirt in I don't see where it would be any different than a 3 o'clock Open carry.

SOB gets a lot of criticism, but I believe it does serve a purpose. and is as safe as any other carry.

The argument that some one could come up behind me an snatch it, This isn't any easier than trying to grab it from 3:oo. In my case this would be the most difficult rig to snatch and grab because of depth inside the waist and retention characteristics of this particular rig.

Some have expressed concern about sweeping themselves or others. from a draw. I would have to be a contortionist to sweep myself from an SOB draw. The draw might be a few miliseconds slower going into the low ready position, but I think its faster than from a kangagaroo crotch, appendix or from a pocket.

Another argument against the SOB is the "It will break your back" argument. My Uncle Mikes is padded nylon. I think it might offer more protection than the bare pavement. I am no more concerned about breaking my back, if I fall, than I am about breaking my hip with my other holster carries.

SOB isn't for everyone, but it may be the best carry for some people in some situations. but I don't believe it has any particular hazzard over typical 3 o'clock waisband carry
