Had to go to Denton RMC this afternoon to tend to and pick up my brother in law and sister in law who had to lay down their bike today.

Walked up to the ambulance entrance to the ER and noted "proper" 30.06 posting (white letters on clear glass, probably not 1 inch, but right language etc.) Found that we could not enter through those doors, they only open them for EMS personnel and LEO.

Went around to the public entrance to the ER, and noted that the 30.06 posting there is only posted in English, no Spanish, white on clear, <1 inch.

Just out of curiosity, while waiting for them to release the various parts of my family members that were releaseable, I wandered over to the main entrance to the hospital, and found that it was not posted at all that I could see.

Oh well.

Coincidently, I was helping out my Mom with a surgery up in Pampa earlier this year. Hospital there was posted about the same. 3 different doors, 3 different scearios. Emergency room entrance also the only one that was "proper". And nothing on main entrance.

Your BIL and SIL gonna be OK?

It was on the Ambu entrance? across from the Helipad?

I KNOW there are not any signs anywhere else in this joint.

if it makes anyone feel better, they have a crappy weapon policy for employees, too.

Yup, "proper" signage at the ambu entrance, which is not useable by walk ups, less proper at the public entrance to the ER, and no sign at all on the main entrance.

BIL and SIL are pretty much ok. A person pulled a u-turn right in front of them and he laid the bike down, everything would probably have been ok except for some road rash, but the bike decided to flip and tossed them over. They did not hit the offending car, but the flip broke his clavicle (in the same place as a bicycle wreck a few years back that never set properly) and left her badly bruised.

I'm glad they're going to be okay. Completely OT here... why is it that bike riders claim, "I had to lay it down"? Nobody has to "lay it down". Why can't they just say, "I locked up the rear wheel in a panic stop, and wrecked it"?

The traction of rubber is always better than steel and chrome and fiberglass, and staying on the bike in a controlled stop or evasive maneuver always beats the (unknown, but always bad) options when you get off in a hurry.

yeah, good thing you weren't an EMT, then you couldn't carry.
I'm going to look into this, and see what the deal is. We have a new CEO, so maybe I can raise some awareness about how retarded 30.06ing this place is. specially since, you know, we're not exactly the most secure location known to mankind.

That might be the reason they put it up. Some of the big wig antis figured that if they put the sign up that the shoot outs will stay in the parking lot and not enter the building. Cause we all know that unlawfull people will obay the posted signs.

Well, considering my BIL's level of experience, when he says he HAD to lay it down, I believe him. In his case it was a choice between laying it down and hitting the offending car wheels first, or hitting it straight up, and I think he took the better choice.
