So I've been thinking about getting a new pistol. I really like my wife's HK VP9 but she doesn't want me to buy a second VP9 - 'We don't need 2 of the same gun' and so I was looking for something with similar features/design but isn't the same gun . I've seen the Walther line compared to the HKs and so that's what initially drew my attention. I like the look of the gun's aesthetics, the paddle/grip mag release, and the grip.

Just wondering if anyone has this gun, experiences with it, thoughts, opinions ?

Oh and one other question - what about price ?

I was quoted 620 by my local gun shop - seems like I've seen it going cheaper(online), but that could have been used prices I was seeing.

Guys, there is no "MK1" and "MK2". They are PPQ M1 and PPQ M2, the only differences being the magazine release. M1=Paddle, M2=Button.

The guns are striker fired, no adjustment, and in my opinion and many others, the best out of the box striker fired pistol trigger on the market.

I enjoy shooting mine greatly and have the 4" and 5" variants.

I tested an M1 side by side with the VP9 when I had it narrowed down to those two pistols. The only issue I had with the Walther were several double taps while I was riding the reset. The first couple were an accident, but the rest of that mag wa's purely intentional.

Other than that, they're pretty much the same gun from my point of view.

My wife and I have identical Kimbers...just saying :)

Sorry - I know that but as I was typing away, somehow in my mind M & 1/M & 2 when in reference to guns has a K in-between them lol

True - I have considered it. But for ammo cost reasons, at this point I'm going to stick with 9.

I like the vp9 so much I've thought about vp40 but I don't like the round and the price

Having two of the same guns lets you share accessories and more importantly, magazines, should the poo hit the propeller. Don't discard the idea.

This is exactly how I feel. For a carry/home defense pistol, everyone nearby running the same pistol is a plus.

I'm not against having 2 of the same gun, its my 'financial adviser' that is against it

Finally got the Wife to sign off on it, I ordered the gun and put a down payment on it(my local FFL does layaway), next payday I'll be paying it off and picking it up.

I found myself making a similar choice about 2 months ago. I was debating between the VP40 and PPQ in .40. I like both HK and Walther and both companies are well represented in my safe. I guess I very slightly prefered the HK, but the Walther was literally half the price at my favorite gun shop. I went with the Walther as the price difference was substantial while every other difference was splitting hairs.
