A man in a wheelchair set off a bomb aboard a passenger airliner. He was sucked out but the plane landed safely.
Everyone seems to not want to say bomb, when it obviously was.
I suspect it was a test.
They will pick a better airline and airport next time.

Yesterday on Fox News, Katherine Herrigan (their Intelligence News reporter) said that the FBI (I think it was the FBI) had already determined that it was a bomb. She's a pretty smart lady and usually has her facts down.

Makes you wonder if the plane would have been at 30k ft instead of 11k if the outcome would have been different. I read somewhere they found explosive residue.
Must have been a long way down after being sucked out like being in an industrial strength commode.

When I heard the initial report and saw the picture of the hole in the fuselage, right at the passenger deck level above the wing, I figured it had to be a bomb. When I heard only one person died and he was sucked out the airplane, I figured he must be the bomber. Then I laughed. Maybe that makes me a bad person, but I can't help it when one of the suicide bombers manages to score an own-goal.

I'm a little hesitant to blame the guy who got sucked out... How do we know he's the one who planted the bomb? Perhaps someone else planted the bomb (maybe even on a previous leg of the flight), and this guy we just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Kind of reminds me of the Aloha Airlines flight that became a convertible in flight but made the landing.

Flaming body of person sucked out seems to certify it was a bomb.

Reminds me of Wrong Way Corrigan.

If you think about it, one of the best ways to beat security is to be in a wheelchair, they can't have the person stand up for a scan or pat down, x-rays would be inconclusive with the metal frame, the frame is hollow so all manor of explosives could be put into it. Any wiring could be disguised as brake cables, electronic heart monitoring gear etc. If it is an electric chair it would be even easier, with the large battery compartments, extra wiring etc.
How long before those in wheelchairs are banned from flying?

In any case I've seen, your wheelchair doesn't go in the cabin. An "air safe" wheelchair its provided by the airline/airport services. That being said, all it takes is one terrorist airline employee to put a loaded wheelchair next in queue.

Or have someone pose as someone who must have a specially designed wheelchair. People with certain conditions may need wheelchairs different from just a straight backed conventional wheelchairs. I don't know what the security protocols are, but as someone posted earlier, this may have been a test run to see what they would be capable of getting past security.

'cept Wrong Way Corrigan
intended to go the "wrong" way...
And yes, until further confirmation, the guy who got sucked out of the airplane might not have been the bomber, but I'll wager he was.

All I can say is that IF the person in the wheelchair was also the 'bomber', then I hope the blast didn't kill him and the 'ride down' was as terrifying for him...as he had planned for others.
