Impatiently Waiting

Good Morning all:

Here is my timeline so far:

Nov 22 Online App
Nov 25 Fingerprints done
Jan 4 LTC Class and upload Completion Certificate
Jan 5 Email confirmation received

Called yesterday after 6:00 pm and was told they were still waiting for my form 100. I told the man that I had confirmation from the 5th,and he informed me I was calling way too early. After hanging up with him it occurred to me that yesterday being Feb 8th he may have assumed that I was speaking of Feb 5th. I called early this morning, spoke to a nice woman who informed me that they had all of my documents from January 5th, but that they were still working on applications from mid to late December. It looks like 60 days is a pretty good guesstimate for how long it is taking to process applications at this time.

Patience was never one of my strong suits.

I took my class in late December of 2007, got everything mailed in early January of 2008, and received my plastic in mid March. As I recall, the total processing/mailing time was about 75 days or so. Part of the problem was that they suspended processing pending receiving additional documents from me (proof of citizenship, since I was foreign born), but also part of the problem was the election of a new radically anti-gun president and there was a huge spike in applications at the time. So whereas applications had been taking only 30 days to process just a few months earlier, DPS wasn't even able to honor the 60 day maximum mandated by law. After a while, application times came way back down, and new applicants were complaining that their applications were taking 30 days, when their buddy's only took 3 weeks. Application processing times are back up because there has been a big wave of new applicants in the face of the increased threat of terrorism, the president's threat of additional ant-gun executive orders, the desire to get a license "just in case", etc., etc., etc.

* When you finally see online that your status is "Mailed", it doesn't mean that it is necessarily in the mail yet. It just means that your LTC has been sent along with a big batch of other LTCs to the outfit that mails them for the state.

Today is day 51 for me. The countdown starts from your confirmation email. Be patient. :thumbs2:

Are you sure? I was on the assumption that nothing really & truly gets started until all doc's & FINGERPRINT'S are in. So even though you do app & send CHL-100 in, but haven't done your fingerprint's, nothing gets started until fingerprint's are received also.?.?

Well I'm not 100%, but why anyone would drag their feet getting fingerprinted is beyond me. I was fingerprinted 2 days after my application was submitted online.

I just called DPS/RSD for the first time today. The phone system offered to return my call within 13 minutes, and I got a call back within about 10 minutes. The lady was polite, but brief. She said they had all of the documents, and "Your application is in process and you should have it within 2-3 weeks" was about all the info I could get from her.

I think it was more of a standard response of "we have all of your stuff but we're slow, so please be patient."

I imagine if I was already approved she would have advised me as such. Who knows with them...

Yeah, you are probably right, unfortunately though if you are.
All we can do is wait impatiently... :bigmouth

It starts once they have all the docs and fingerprints.
