Took the wife's car into Audi for service and saw big 06/07 signs at all entrances. This dealer was not posted 06 in December so it's a new development, quick search of the trusty texas3006 site shows this is an autonation policy as all Texas dealers have them posted.
I will be sending an email to the gm of the dealer as well as auto nation regarding this and clearly explain that they had no issue with concealed carry for years and now they posted on both. My expectation isn't high for a change if this is a corporate policy but I have other dealerships to take her car to that aren't posted.
I did tell the wife she can bring the car in on her own next time because of the signs and she thinks I'm crazy hah

I'm thinking best bet is to lobby legislature that an LTC can go concealed anywhere a Peace Officer can. I've yet to see an open carry.

Seems like an Autonation thing. They also did this in all their Nissan dealerships.

I may take the opportunity to let them know that this policy is one reason they never made it into my short list of dealers to visit for the truck I just bought.
They did contact me based on my search, and they did indeed have a truck in stock that was equipped the way I wanted...but I had already heard about their status, and as such never even considered their dealerships....
Probably won't make a change, but their knowing they legitimately removed themselves from any opportunity for a confirmed sale might not be a bad thing.

I was at their Nissan store in Dallas and someone went sign happy there. They even had signs hung up on interior doors that led from one department to another inside the building. Crazy!
I know Sonic doesn't have this policy, they allow open and cc, so if anyone owns a Ford, Toyota, Honda or Cadillac in the DFW area, throw them some business. Ford and Honda in Richardson, Toyota in Ft. Worth and Cadillac in Garland.

I did open carry - sort of - at Stock Yard Station in Ft. Worth Saturday. It warmed up and I had to remove my vest. I was playing music and not walking around, had a black gun in a black holster against the black jeans I was wearing. pretty invisible.

That's probably not going to happen, at least not anytime soon.
It would be nice though, as the businesses would not have to feel compelled to post signs to appease the customers who don't want to see guns, since they would be just following the law...
I'd stick maybe a caveat that the carry would have to be restricted to CC only.
But then, if you make it such that it becomes a law to remove signage, then you'd also have to consider penalty for posting signs, which goes right back to private property rights and out of the window...
Yea, not going to happen imho.
The market will respond in some cases. The dealership I go to is not posted, yet. If they post, I'll go elsewhere.

yes it looks like every autonation dealer in texas is showing as being posted.
my assumption is they meant to halt open carry and put both signs up instead, there still seems to be a lot of confusion by businesses on what is required. I think they get a package deal on signs, by 07 get 06 free

I have not been to Grubbs Audi in Bedford since the law went into effect. I hope they are not posted as we are about to trade my wifes car for a new Q7. If they are posted also, may have to look at other options.

It is Autonation Chevrolet Houston posted both signs. I contacted the Manager. When he called me about it he stated the mandate came down from there head office. They cannot even carry in the company car. He wasnt happy about it either. He said he has had many customers complain.

thats what i had a feeling the case would be, i'll still be sending a letter to the GM of the dealer and autonation....but giant conglomerates like autonation arent usually known for bending on these mandates.

It will depend on whether or not they are Autonation places. Most of the Nissan dealers around me are with the exception of the Grapevine dealership. I will be taking my vehicles to them for maintenance from now own. There is one exception, though, because I had work done on my truck a few months ago that is still under warranty that is giving me a little trouble. I will return to Lewisville to have it corrected. Once all that is resolved I won't be back unless they remove the signs and even then I may not if the service is better in Grapevine.

A peace officer can be denied service by a business owner. That's all 06/07 is. What I would like to see is 06/07 apply to LEO's.
