Middle name on DL and middle initial on CHL?

When I went to vote, one of the personnel pointed out that my CHL just has my middle initial and my driver's license has my full middle name. Is it OK that they are different?
He noticed because my voter registration has my full middle name ... I initially used my CHL for ID and they then asked me if I had a photo ID with the full name.

Mine are different. I am a "Junior" and my DL is abbreviated JR, and on my CHL is spelled out.
They are both printed by the DPS. If it was a big deal, they would ensure it was 100% matching.
Obviously it is not that big of a deal.
Bigger question, why did you show them both? I know that you can use your CHL as voting ID... I would prefer not to have someone at a polling place wondering "Does this guy have a gun on him?".

I am one inch taller when I drive than when I walk around carrying.
Not sure how that happened.

Just show the official ID that matches your voter ID. Curious-?why did you show 2 official government ID's. Did they require 2 at the polling place? Some folks don't want to show even one.

I happened to pull out my CHL as a photo ID ... they noted that the name, because of the middle initial, did not match the voter registration, so we looked at the DL. I don't think it would have been a problem ... was more of an observation. I have no problem with showing a photo ID. It should be mandatory.
