My Girlfriend is Awesome - Part 2

Some of you may recall I recently asked about a good "starter" gun for my girlfriend. Original post here:

At first I was thinking .380 for her, but many of you were right. She hated it. Well, we found a .22 revolver at the range for her to learn with that she REALLY likes.
We've now been to the range a handful of times. The last two weekends, SHE has brought it up and asked if we could go. She was practically giddy today she was having so much fun.
We get home, and she wants to start looking at revolvers in larger caliber to potentially graduate up to sometime in the next few months. And, you guessed it, asked if we could go again next week.
I'm winning her over!
PS - today, she paid. Bonus!

Glad to hear she loves shooting. Makes it nice to have that in common.
As she moves to a larger caliber, let her again try different revolvers. Some of the lighter ones in .38 may be 'snappier' than she wants. Heavier and balanced front to back will usually be more comfortable as it absorbs more of the perceived recoil.

It's a bit expensive, but I would suggest looking at the S&W Ladysmith Model 60LS and shooting 38 Special.
It has a stainless frame and cylinder and weighs in at 21.2 oz.
Compare this to the aluminum frame S&W Model 638 which weighs 15 oz.

Congrats, she sounds just like my wife. When you move up to the larger caliber, still let her shoot the .22 for a bit, then let her shoot the larger caliber that way she will be comfortable & the recoil won't feel that bad.

my wife also likes revolvers, she got bit by the slide on my ruger once and she has always told me she doesn't like auto's but she had used her revolver so much I had to replace the firing pin twice. It is a 38 special, it fits her hand well so I leave it to her without complaint because she has something.

If you would like, I have a 357 revolver you can borrow to let her try. It is an old police gun, so square butt and 4" barrel. Try 38 out of it and she will probably enjoy it, 357 not so much.

Ha! Thanks. She is pretty fond of the .22 right now. I'm gonna roll with it for a few months and then step her up. As long as she keeps enjoying it, I keep going. So I'm in no hurry to give her reason to not like it anymore. ;)
