Suspension Letter from DPS

I was charged with a DWI back in 2014, I never received a suspension letter from DPS.

Charges were dismissed and I paid for a lawyer to perform an expungement. Just received a letter from DPS stating the following:
\
Department has received information your case has been dismissed. Therefore you can regain your eligibility for a handgun license. There is no longer a basis for the suspension of your license.

My question is:

Is my current license valid or do I need to apply for another one?

I would say the best people to answer that question is the DPS.

Just go online and renew it when it's due. It's no longer suspended. If it lets you do it, no worries. I'm sure they will let you know if there's a problem.

Did you ever have to surrender your license? Do you still have the plastic in hand and has it not expired?

License was never handed over, never received a notice, and no it is not expired

I believe you have automatically regained the validity for your existing LTC. However, I would submit a question to the RDS handgun licensing division at http://txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/chl.aspx and validate it just to make sure there is not another step that needs to be taken.

I have contacted our law office and they believe the license is still valid, but I have sent in a questionnaire as suggested. If anyone has dealt with this type of situation please let me know. I appreciate all the help everyone has suggested.

53. My Texas License to Carry a Handgun (LTC) was suspended due to a pending charge; does this mean I am never eligible again?
It depends on the type of charge and whether you are subsequently convicted or placed on probation.
If you are acquitted of the pending charge, your license will be reinstated if it did not expire during the time of the suspension.

:iagree: See FAQ 21 - 23. Should answer your question. And, if they were dismissed (not differed) and didn't do probation before dismissal, then you should still be valid.
