Apparently it is a bad thing to open a restaurant that serves British food from around their colonial period. You should also never serve a dish that has the name "plantation" in it.

Protestors also have a list of demands for the restaurant besides just changing the names.

Here's a more biased article http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/b ... olonialism

According to the video, the protesters don't live in the area and aren't of the ethnic background that is supposedly offended.

The "protesters" put up the "Closed due to glorifying colonialism" signs.

The last sentence in the video says the restaurant is still open and the protests haven't affected their revenue.

The lefty's in that area must be bored.

Let me see, opening a restaurant provides jobs, provides a place to eat and generally uplifts a neighborhood, but it's theme must be PC acceptable.

Lesson = Open no business's in lefty neighborhood.

Yeah they would rather see urban blight than to have re-vitalization of neighborhoods. It's just more of the same type of things we have seen in other places. Protesters coming in from outside just to get their left wing agenda more air time. :banghead:

I'd eat there if I ever made it to Portland.

The protesters should go to New Orleans and try to close all bars and restaurants that serve Planter's Punch.

Yesterday I ate breakfast at Johnny Reb's Dixie cafe. It even had the Stars and Bars flag on the outside and menu... Ohh the microagression horror. I think I need to go sit in the corner today for lunch...

I would support this place if I ever got to Portland... But that's not going to happen.

In Ft. Worth they have the Colonial Country Club, on Colonial Drive which is also the street where the Ft. Worth Zoo is located. Maybe they need to go protest there and see if the zoo will close down and take their illegal gun buster signs with them.

I'm still confused by the "gentrification" complaint. Is the store owner painting all of the buildings in the neighborhood white?

Merriam-Webster wrote:Definition of gentrification
: the process of renewal and rebuilding accompanying the influx of middle-class or affluent people into deteriorating areas that often displaces poorer residents
In other words, "Leave the slum alone.", said the protesters.

I have been emboldened by the current state of affairs. For every time someone demonstrates they should add another dish that has the word plantation in it. Every time someone complains make the sign 10 pct bigger. I am tired of complying!

That is exactly my point. It would turn the Oregonian protesters on their heels. :biggrinjester:

There was a restaurant in Scottsdale back in the 70s called the Bombay Bicycle Club where you could eat curry and swill gin. I dont recall any protests. I believe it was run by 2 families from Maharashtra, could've been 3, named Patil/Patel.
Didn't care for the Brits, but they were Fanatical Cricket fans, it was great entertainment watching them when they would play a tape of a match in the bar/lounge.
Oh, anybody else remember the first Sony Betamax machines that were as big the top of your Magnavox console t.v. (American colonial cabinetry) and tapes cost $75 ?
